You can see a lot of websites that are focusing on buyer intent keywords, the most common ones are Amazon affiliate websites which mostly focus on reviews.
The buyer intent keywords are buy, coupon, discount, deal, shipping, review, best, top 10, affordable, cheap, and comparison. The context for these keywords is extremely important when determining the buyer intent, sometimes the user only wants information while other times he needs information before committing to buying the product.

As a beginner you have probably heard a lot of times that you need to target buyer intent keywords if you want to make money with your blog, a couple of years ago this was true but today you can earn significant amounts of money without even targeting these keywords, by using display ads. If your main goal is to use buyer intent keywords than you have to place yourself between the user and the end product, this way you will get the commotion if the user is using your link, or sales if you are selling products on your website.

If you have a new website you might think you are far from that but in a couple of years with high-quality content you might end up being an authority in your specific niche. How to find buyer intent keywords
A lot of people will tell you to use this or that keyword research tool, the truth is that these tools don’t do a lot. You cant assess the competition with these keyword tools as each and one of them will show different levels of competition. Go to google and with the above-provided keywords start searching for the product, like “buy product”, “product x vs product y” and so on. If in the search results you see large websites selling this product then move on and try to narrow the search even more.
On the other hand, if you see a blog or a review website ranking than take a look at how many words the article has. Generally speaking, these will be fairly long articles, and in order to outrank them, you will have to write an even longer and more detailed article. The most common buyer intent keyword is “buy”, generally speaking, if the product is listed on Amazon then odds are that either Amazon or the manufacturer’s website is ranked on the first page. Outranking Amazon for the “buy product” keyword is extremely hard, not impossible but extremely difficult. Amazon has a lot of authority and it is literally ranking for millions o buyer intent keywords.
Pro Tip: Generally speaking targeting “buy product” keyword is a good idea if the product is new and it isn’t even listed on large authority websites as you will most likely never outrank them. Users searching for a product with a coupon code have a clear buying intent, this is how a lot of coupon websites actually make money, by ranking for thousands of product + coupon keywords. Generally speaking, these coupon related keywords are fairly easy to rank for but in some niches, it can be difficult to rank. While you are searching for product + coupon keyword and you see the top-ranking website is a coupon website then you are good to go.
These coupon websites ave little to no content and you can easily outrank them with a 1000 word article.
The discount word is another clear buyer intent keyword, although the competition is definitely higher than for the coupons. Some brands actually target the discount keyword as well, especially if they are having frequent sales. You have to take a lot of time determining the competition of these buyer intent keywords, but with some luck, you will find a low competition one. Generally speaking, the keyword discount + product is less competitive for new products rather than for established brands and products.
The buyer intent keyword “Deal” is fairly similar to the “discount” keyword, the competition is a mixed bag. Some niches have both deal and coupon sites ranking fairly well, these tend to be extremely easy to outrank as they literally have no content except for the actual deal or the coupon. The keyword deal is not that frequently used, usually buyers will search more often for a discount than for a deal.
The word “shipping” is a buyer intent keyword, the user has already decided that he wants to buy the product but he is searching for information about shipping. In some cases the manufacturer will not give any useful info to the user about the shipping, this is a mistake on their part and you should take advantage of it. There are a lot of small rural communities where shipping isn’t as easy like in a big city. Find out how exactly the product is shipped and write a detailed post about it, and don’t forget to target the keyword “product + shipping”.
When a user is searching for a review of a certain product he has not yet decided if he wants to buy it, and he is searching for additional information. There are a lot of Amazon review websites out there, most of them are extremely low quality which does not give any value to the users. Usually, these review websites tend to use the information from the product description and write a lengthy article about it.
If you want to target the buyer intent keyword review + product than you have to dig deep to find useful information. I am not saying that you have to buy the product just for the review, as trust me very few people actually do this, but you should search around on forums and on social media as well to see the opinion of different people.
The keyword “best” is not always a buyer intent keyword, it mostly depends on the context. If a user is searching for the “best piano” than he might just want to know which is the best piano, if a user is searching for the “best water filter” then odds are that he has buyer intent, on the other hand, if the user is searching for “best way to install water filter” than he is looking for an informational post or video rather then for a specific product.
The “top 10” keyword is very similar to the “best” keyword as it mostly depends on the context. People love lists and that is why a lot of search terms with the keywords “top 10” tend to have a lot of traffic. If the user is searching for the top 10 water filters then odds are that he has a buying intent, and he wants to know what his options are. If you are targeting the “top 10” buyer intent keyword than make sure to list the pros and cons of the product.
The keyword “affordable” is a buyer intent keyword, the user is searching for a specific product, he has already found it but the price is too high for him. In this case, some users will search for the product name + affordable, although this also depends on the context. Generally speaking most “affordable + product” keywords have low competition, although some brands do make a good job at targeting this buyer intern keyword as well.
The buyer intent keyword “cheap” is fairly similar to “affordable” the users are more or less searching for the same thing. The main difference between the two is the competition, the buyer intent keyword “cheap + product” tends to be high competition in a lot of niches. If the product itself is cheap than the traffic for the “cheap + product” is significantly lower. In some industries ranking for the keywords “cheap + product” can be extremely profitable, while in others it won’t drive any traffic.
When a user is searching for a comparison between two products he has already decided that he wants to buy one of them but he is not sure which one to buy. This buyer intent keyword can come in their forms, comparison, vs, and versus. The main goal of the user is to see a direct comparison between two or more products, this is why comparison tables are a must for this buyer intent keyword.
As you can see there are a lot of buyer intent keywords, although this doest guarantee that the user will actually buy from you or use your affiliate link. Ideally, you should give as much information to the user as possible, this way you allow him to make a decision if he wants to buy the product or not.
